Hasten Down the Wind
Linda's best album. First bought this in '77 with some Who, Humble Pie, CSNY and Zep cassettes for a post college cross country road trip with two friends. Ended up this was the most played cassette of all of them. Nothing beat sitting around a fire in the Tetons listening to Ronstadt sing Rivers of Babylon.
Almost perfect
With the exception of Crazy, which I would remove with a laser and put on her later "standards" albums, this is a perfect recording. Beautiful, timeless, haunting. Puts her in the rare company of a few other female singers with stunningly perfect voices (Karen Carpenter, Carly Simon, Aretha Franklin). Bought this when I was a 15 year old and I'm still knocked over by its power.
Hasten Down the Wind
Terrific vocals as always, and an introdution to two great sonwriters - Warren Zevon (pre-Werewolves) and Karla Bonoff. Still one of my fave albums, 30 years later.
