Album Review
Duane Eddy's debut album, Have 'Twangy' Guitar-Will Travel, was a good value by the standards of the era, with several of his early hits and favorites ("Rebel Rouser," "Cannonball," "Ramrod," "Movin' and Groovin'," and "Three-30-Blues ") included. Many of the songs, though, appear on whatever greatest-hits anthology you're likely to pick up; Rhino's Twang Thang, for instance, has no less than nine of the 12 tracks. The 1999 CD reissue (which is in stereo) adds three 1958 B-sides that aren't always likely to show up on anthologies — "Up and Down," "The Walker," and "Mason-Dixon Line" — as well as historical liner notes. The album was also issued on a two-fer CD by Motown, teamed with the 1960 album $1,000,000 Worth of Twang.
Customer Reviews
Awesome!!!
It's great to see this on I-tunes. I bought this one back in the day and still have it and it's still in great shape. Duane at his best - and on his first release to boot!!
Just plain COOL!!!!
I remember listening to this with my Dad. He bought the original vinyl back in 58. It was this and all those Johnny Cash albums that formed my taste in music. I have the old vinyl put away so I am glad I found this. If you like tuff guitar than this is for you. This a must listen for all future rock/blues guitarist.
"Moovin' n' Groovin!"
.."All The Way Down That "Lonesome Road!"..Yes; Duane Eddy was most certainly a "Rebel Rouser" back in the day!-And a major influence on many young teenagers to "Pick Up That Guitar And Play!"-Kids like: George Harrison; Brian Setzer; Dave & Phil Alvin and Brian & Carl Wilson!-That "Twangy Guitar Sound" would show up in many Popular Teenage Movies and Later; Television Shows!-"Stalkin" out his Territory; Duane Eddy had several sucessful "Hits!"-(More of a Musical Footnote now than some of his more Presigious Peers; Duane Eddy can still have a place in the category of "Rock & Roll Originator!")-"Anytime!"-...by Grimmbo.
