lacks Hendrix' fire
Nicely played but just doesn't have the dynamics this music deserves. Listen to Kronos play Purple Haze and you'll see what I mean.
New Age Meets a Blanket of Covers
To the Lack's Hendrix Fire Kronos dude - i say - hmmm - Kronos always sounds so kinetic... TIQ is a bit more on the refined side. I guess it's a 'More CowBells VS Good Listening kind of thing. If you're new to TIQ... The are a historical New Age band. So if you're into New Age experioences - Have You Ever Benn...? is an Experience worth your time. Sorry - no CowBells here... To steal froma Chuck Berry line, "...ding-a-ling" & add a Jimi thing, "Kiss The Sky." Ok - I'm going to listen to ...WatchTower again....
TISQ outdo themselves again
Spectacular arranging and composing by Mr. Balakrishnan make this album stand out amoung the TISQ albums. In addition, Mark Summer's cello solo rendition of Little Wing is, while perhaps not (yet) as well known as his other solos, just as impressive. The whole album retains the group's recognizable groove and is a blast to listen to.
