underated electropop album by Russ F
I realy love this album has all the melodies that a clan of xymox or a camouflage album would have. A must have for electro pop new wave enthusiasts.
Great follow-up
Always thought of these guys as a "softer" Nitzer Ebb, with heavy percussion blending nicely with catchy lyrics and haunting vocals. A few nice ballads on here, with Sadistic Years being my favorite. Any fan or those who have knowledge of the previous effort, especially the song "Crucify Me" will enjoy this whole album from beginning to end. A rarity worth owning.
A rare moment
With the release of Head Down "Moev" the band reached a turning point. Taking the sessions with legendary producer John Fryer (who had previously produced This Mortal Coil as well as Love and Rockets) and deciding that they could better create the soundscapes they were looking for the band went back to the studio with the assistance of Sarah Mclachlan to add new backgrounds. This album, which was very much set apart from the current sounds of the day truly encompassed the time and place for 3 very talented musicians from Vancouver. Sadly it would be the last output from the Dean, Tom and Kelly as a unit with Dean Russell succumbing to aids within the next 3 years. The sound, melody and percussion encompassed on this album make it a unique listen and something anyone interested in electronic music should study for the definite and undeniable emotive qualities that many albums to follow would try, but fall short of achieving. A must own.
