Album Review

Keeping the songs short and to the point, Poco lets loose with a fine batch of material. This time out, they even cover the Becker-Fagen song "Dallas" with great verve. There's less country, but a lot more pop.

The name of the album is Head Over Heels, not HEALS. Gee whiz!

Head over Heals for this album

Keep On Tryin' is by far the best song on this album in my opinion! I first heard it on Bones and had it stuck in my head for a week then I bought it and I absolutly lovie it!!

Solid Poco

A fine, solid record that showed the 4-man POCO could still fly even after Richie's departure. Paul and Tim both turn in some great, classic Poco songs and even Rusty does a little singing. "Keep On Tryin" is every bit as good, maybe better than the latter hit, "Crazy Love" and is a really fitting opener. With George way up on top, it is 100 percent Poco. The set is interesting and well paced, and by the end "I'll Be Back Again" is a very welcome promise. I do wish the production was crisper. There's a bit of a "haze" and lack of clarity in the sound, and I don't know a better way to describe it. If this record had been recorded with the crispness and clarity of "From the Inside," for example, it would have packed more of a punch.

The final Springfield track, "Kind Woman," included only Furay and Messina, with a guest appearance on steel guitar by Rusty Young — at the time, he was...
