iTunes Review

Eagles of Death Metal burst out the gate in 2004 with swaggering songs of sexual innuendo and guitar riffs hooky enough to work their way into countless television commercials. While EODM shares guitarist/drummer Josh Homme with the more established Queens of the Stone Age, with Heart On they’ve sealed the deal as a stand-alone outfit with plenty of original ideas and heart-pounding energy. Fans of their earlier work might be left in search of ultra-crisp, punchy numbers like “I Only Want You” and “Cherry Cola” after working through tracks here like “Prissy Prancin,’” “Solo Flights,” “Cheap Thrills,”  and “Heart On,” all of which sound like an ‘80s punk band dipped in ‘70s Rolling Stones raunch (not necessarily a bad thing). Fresher sounding standouts include the funky “Tight Pants,” the gyrating “I’m Your Torpedo,” the taut and bouncy “Secret Plans,” and the opening track “Anything ‘Cept the Truth,” with its glistening shards of tambourine bouncing off roiling, grinding guitars and Jesse Hughes’ unctuous vocals promising little more than lust-driven lies. First single, “Wannabe in L.A.,” is worthy of the designation, a short, fuzzed-out frothrocker celebrating the high life in the city of angels.

Who needs Viagra when you have the Eagles of Death Metal

Since I got this my legs wont quit dancin! "I'm Your Torpedo" is a masterpiece. This is simply what I would call "Good Times" music. The Gods of dance rock have returned to cause unplanned babies yet again!

Yeah, it sounds great

This album sounds to be quite awesome. Plus you can really never get enough of the stuff put out by Jesse Hughes or Josh Homme. That's why they are the Eagles, Eagles of Death Metal, ROCK ON!

I have a heart on.

Well, they've done it again. There's only one word to describe this band: "sexy." They're a hormone pumpin', toe tappin', booty shakin' good time. It'll be a while till this album leaves my player.

It seems that with each change of season, a member of Queens of the Stone Age is issuing a new album by one of their many side projects, as early 2004 saw the release of the debut full-length by the Eagles of Death Metal, Peace, Love & Death Metal. The group's chief contributors include QOTSA main man Josh Homme (who goes by the alias of Carlo Von Sexron, and handles drums, rather than his usual guitar/vocal duties), and Jesse Hughes (vocals, guitar). Both hail from Palm Desert, California, and...
