iTunes Review

"Though there was concern that Black Sabbath would not survive without their lead singer, Ozzy Osbourne's departure actually strengthened the group. Their last few studio albums had sounded musically adrift, but with the addition of former Elf / Rainbow singer and hard rock veteran Ronnie James Dio, Sabbath refocused with their strongest set in years. ""Neon Knights"" announces the new attack; Dio would not be cowed into imitating his predecessor. He implements his own strident, operatic growl and the group responds with a faster, tighter sound much more in line with modern heavy metal than their own initial idiosyncratic approach. The new excitement within the group unleashes guitarist Tony Iommi's most inspired solos in years. The title track is an archetypal metal anthem. ""Neon Knights,"" ""Lady Evil"" and ""Wishing Well"" move with a quickstep and funk previously unheard from these downward doomsters. Dio would only last for one additional studio release, 1981's excellent Mob Rules."

Dio rules

Great album - great memories - my first concert.
Ronnie will be missed - one of the best voices in heavy metal sadly silenced forever.......

If their predecessors clearly came out of an electrified blues tradition, Black...
