iTunes Review
Trisha Yearwood’s country music career has been marked by a refusal to go for the trendy hit or the easy pop crossover tune. Over the years, she’s favored artistically-substantial songs and sung them as if the words were her own, and Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love (2007) reaffirms the core values of her work. Assisted by long-time producer Garth Fundis, she tackles a well-balanced batch of ballads and uptempo numbers with the enthusiasm of a fledgling artist and a combination of nuanced interpretation and full-on vocal power that's all but unique in modern country. She renders tracks like “Let the Wind Chase You” (featuring Keith Urban) and “Sing You Back To Me” with understated drama, then kicks up her heels on rollicking numbers like “Nothin’ About You is Good For Me” and the title tune. The earthy gusto of “Drown Me” provides counterpoint to the tear-stained elegance of “This Is Me You’re Talking To.” An outstanding addition to Yearwood’s catalogue.

Can't go wrong with Trisha Yearwood
Another collection of great songs by the finest vocalist on the planet. Miss Yearwood graces each song with her exquisite sound and skill. From the rocking title track to poignant final cut, Trisha weaves between songs with the power and ease. This collection seems heavier on the Up-tempo varieties. And, yet, those who love Trisha for her ballads will not be disappointed. Musically, the selections run a wide field. HEAVEN...and CALL IT FALLING...should find a welcome home at country radio. COWBOYS...sways along with a rock-a-billy swing. DREAMING FIELDS glistens with a mist of Celtic dew. THIS IS ME... and NOTHIN 'BOUT...harken back to the reflective ballads which set Trisha apart from the pack. With a tender song of regret featuring Keith Urban on harmonies, HEAVEN , HEARTACHE, AND THE POWER OF LOVE certainly will please anyone who listens.
Another Career High-Point
Wow, what a voice! Usually her records are ballad-heavy, but this album pretty much has it all. Title track is a great rousing number, but I also really love the driving beat and lyrics of "They Call It Falling For A Reason". The horns on "Nothin' Bout Memphis" really surprised me (and they're real, not synthesizers!) and, to me, make this one of the standout tracks because of that and her vocal performance. "Let The Wind Chase You" is a beautiful bittersweet ballad with perfect harmony by Keith Urban - they need to a full-out duet as their voices complement each other wonderfully. Late in the album she has a couple of more traditional cuts ("Cowboys...", "Help Me"), and they serve to show just how versatile vocalist she is. This is again proven by her delicate falsetto on the swirling, melancholy "Dreaming Fields". If there's a criticism its that track 2 veers awfully close to bombast production - thankfully not quite. I read in an interview she cut the closing song on the first take, and you can hear why: its so loaded with emotion that its perfect as is. Overall, highly recommended.
Trisha is BACK!
I anticipated finding one or two songs I would want to download from this CD, but found myself liking the whole CD so much that I purchased them all! I have been a long time fan of Trisha's... I love her soultry voice in a country genre... what a match up! But it seemed like song choice had been lacking over the years. Well not anymore... SHE's BACK! This could possibly be her best complete album to date! You can't go wrong with this CD if you are a country music fan!
