Album Review
When Belinda Carlisle pursued a solo career, she took more than her share of criticism from rock critics — who complained that slick pop/rock collections like Belinda and Heaven on Earth lacked the bite of her work with the Go-Go's. But while nothing here packs quite the punch that "How Much More," "We Got the Beat," and "Turn to You" did, such memorable songs as "Heaven Is a Place on Earth," "Should I Let You In?," and "I Get Weak" show that the Angelino still had plenty of spirit. "Circle in the Sand" is in fact a gem — a haunting Shangri-Las-like song with an early-to-mid-'60s-ish quality that makes you wish you were back in the Summer of '64 on your way to the beach. If one were to own only one solo effort from Carlisle's MCA years, this would be the best choice.

80's Retro
Not a bad album considering Bon Jovi tried to sue her claiming "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" sounded too much like "Living On A Prayer". I don't hear the connection, but "Heaven"... is Belinda's most cherished song. Even if she does sound like a goat on the song "I Get Weak".

How DARE any of you to say that Belinda's voice sounds like a goat!! Any of her TRUE fans would never have said such spite words..get out of this reviewer's page! You don't belong here. Four pop/rock classics from here: heaven on Earth, I get weak, I feel free and Circle in the sand. I get weak is one of the best songs ever written and a great video! Did any of you know that Diane Keaton directed this video along with Heaven is a place on earth? Wish i-tunes sells these videos online.. plus, Madonna stole Tony Ward and her ex backup singer, Donna de Lory from her! He made his debut in this video before being famous as one of her'boytoy' and Donna was Belinda's back up singer before she went on tour with Madge. Long live Belinda!!!
hello nostalgia
Wow ..this album takes me back to my childhood. My Mom got my sisters and I this tape and we played it nonstop. I'm so glad I found it again! Heavy Metal girl now but there's those albums you associate to a happy time in your life. The REAL GEM on this album is Love Never Dies! I LOVE it !!
