Ms. Rossi's songwriting has sharpened & refined & she's still fantastically unique.

nope

this is garbage, do not buy.

Catchy lo-fi music!

I looked for Anni after I heard her track "Crushing limbs" on a recent Indie Rock Playlist. The song was oddly minimal but very catchy after several listens. It stood out among other, much slicker tracks. I found myself enjoying it more upon each listen.

I sometimes buy a lot of lesser known artists based on hearing one or two tracks. Sometimes I'm disappointed but other times, I am pleasantly surprised. I bought "Heavy Meadow" as well as her prior releases. This one was a pleasant surprise. If you like indie, alt music, she might be just your style.

The songs have minimal arrangements, primarily synth, but have some nice catchy arrangements. The instrumentation in the songs slowly build, layering melodic instrumental hooks on top of the main melody. Give the songs a chance and they really start to grow on you.

My favorites, Sandstorm, Hatchet, Texan Planes, and Cha Cha Cha... as well as Crushing Limbs. The songs have nice, sometimes dark lyrics, that contradict the sometimes bright melodies.

Don't buy this looking for slick pop music. The style is much too minimal to make it on radio but if you're more experimental in your tastes and can give music a chance without having to hear it on the radio 50 times, this may be for you.

A classically trained viola player and multi-instrumentalist, Anni Rossi launched a songwriting career in her early twenties, drawing comparisons to Joanna Newsom and other equally anachronistic musicians. Using the viola to guide her way through folk-classical-pop songs like "Wheelpusher," not to mention her unique Internet-based take on Radiohead's "Creep," Rossi built up a small following in 2007. After "Wheelpusher" was featured as Single of the Month by the indie label Too Pure in January 2008,...
