Album Review

As his hit cover of "You Can't Hurry Love" demonstrates, Phil Collins began to inject his highly melodic pop songwriting with more soul and R&B influences on his second solo album, Hello, I Must Be Going! While some of the material was successful, much of it showed that he was still coming to grips with how to incorporate R&B techniques into his style; in retrospect, Hello, I Must Be Going! laid the groundwork for his breakthrough album, No Jacket Required.

Incredible!!

Not many true music buffs on iTunes, that's for sure. Whatever is new and popular. Just maybe you get lucky and stumble upon a treasure like "Hello, I Must Be Going". Phil and Hugh Padgham were a great team, producing so many wonderful new sounds; the "Intruder" gated reverb, the famous "bathroom drum sound" Phil spoke of, edgy vocal effects, the subject material, splashy wide-open swing, heavy-bottomed rock, jazz, R&B, some classical, prog, it's all here.
Check it out. Go ahead!!

My Favorite Phil Collins Album

Growing up, I listened to this album all the time along with 'Face Value', and 'No Jacket Required'. This was by far my favorite of the three. Great songs. It's a shame Phil's undergone a popularity backlash. He's still the man!

Hello I Must be Going

If you love Phil Collins and/or Genesis, this album is awesome. All of it is good. Definitely brings me back. Phil Collins is a true amazing talent.
