iTunes Review
Meg & Dia ride a creative growth spurt on their densely constructed and frequently inspired Here, Here and Here. The Utah-bred Frampton sisters have matured since 2007’s Something Real, adding more nuances to their fluffy yet brooding pop/rock. The blend of love and repulsion expressed in “Hug Me,” “Inside My Head,” and Kiss You Goodnight” takes some scrutiny to untangle; luckily, the music bristles with finely honed hooks and buoyant melodies — the jittery Latin vibe of “Black Wedding” and the honking country spunk of “Agree to Disagree” are stand-outs. Meg & Mia use the essential sweetness of their sound to deliver biting sentiments, as in the kiss-off ballad “Bored of Your Love” (featuring Plain White T’s vocalist Tim Higgenson as the clueless boyfriend). Pervading the album is a hunger for discovery, whether in terms of hitting the open road (“Going Away”) or connecting with one’s special muse (the title track). Diffuse but beguiling, Here, Here and Here is a noteworthy advance by this brash and brainy duo.
Customer Reviews
Loved it!
now, i usually dont buy full albums. in fact, this is a rarity. however, as i listened to the short thirty seconds of each song, i smiled. now, i know this is different from Meg & Dia's older stuff, but trust me, its just as good. the lyrics are interesting and connectable, the music is just amazing. everything about it drags you in. Going away- 9/10 i loved it. i'm sure everyone can connect at some point hug me- 8/10 great guitar. makes you want to dance what if- 9/10 mind you, when i rate this one, i'm rating the remix. i didnt like the original so much. mind you, they're both great, the remix is simply better. Are the giants too, in the dance?- 7/10 i must admit, i dont much understand the title or many of the lyrics. i probably will when its midnight and i'm listening, but right now i just woke up. :D though i like the beat. Inside my head- 9/10 i like the... i think its the second verse. the emotion of this one shocked me to the core. its pretty amazing. black wedding- 8/10 made me giggle. go get your vows off the internet. reminds me of something, cant put my finger on it. bored of your love- 8/10 sad. hope i can never connect. great song though one sail- 9/10 another sad one, but its different from the other stuff on here. hits a slightly different note i think. The last great star in hollywood- 8/10 this reminds me of relient k. can't help it. the good thing is, that isnt bad. sort of teasing at the world. i loved her kate nash ish english accent. Agree to Disagree- 7/10 i have no idea why they decided on country. not my favorite. but the lyrics saved it. Fighting for nothing- 10/10 dont we all fight life's battles? Kiss you goodnight- 10/10 hit a perfect note. just amazing. here, here, and here- 10/10 another perfect ten. looks like they saved the best for last. this song just makes your heart hurt and smile and grow. all in the course of 4:14. ;) this is overall an amazing album, i admit some iof the lyrics make me stop and say, what??????? but it seems like this album is focusing on a sadder part of their lives, so while the music is usually upbeat, the lyrics can be sad and sometimes shocking. but that doesnt take away from anything. i hope you enjoy their music as much as i did.
A CD with emotion, feeling and the abilty to rock
I've been waiting for this album since I heard Black Wedding over a year ago live. reading every blog posted by the sisters in hopes for information about the album, I've finally got a chance to listen to it. Now when a group makes there sophomore album there is always a scare that it might not be that good. No way does Here, Here, and Here fall into that category. fans of Something Real will realize it is more upbeat in the indie feel that Something Real. nonetheless both Meg & Dia's voices do well to add necessary emotion to the songs. As I was listening to songs such as Agree to Disagree I could almost feel what Meg was thinking at the time happy yet sad, It is also a very catchy song despite having a bluegrass feel to it and oddly it seems to work out. They also take a political dive in the song Are there Giants to in the dance, that pans out with a nice beat and meaningful lyrics. Hug Me makes you want to get up and dance, and it was quite hard to resists. The single Black Wedding is sure to hit the charts as one of the best songs in 2009. One thing that was improved upon between the two albums is the drummer, those of you who are familiar with his drumming will know that Something Real, does not show is talent to the best, but Here, Here, and Here really shows you just how great he is. They also make use of there newly acquired guitarist Carlo, by using is distinctive ability of shredding. This album is great. Meg & Dia fans this is one you will want in your collection and newcomers don't pass a chance to get this CD by such a great group. I'm looking forward to seeing what Meg & Dia will deliver in the future. Prepare to be amazed
Mixed Feelings on this one...
I'm a HUGE fan of Meg&Dia, but I am a little disappointed with this one... The Lyrics are rediculously good, and the songs sound great overall, I loved the feel of their previous CD (something real), but this isn't the same Alternative Rock as before... its just Pop music. The CD is still an awesome CD, just not as good as I expected from Meg&Dia though... I'm still a big fan, and I'm sure this album is going to make them huge (Maybe it would've been better if someone other than Howard Benson Produced it?)
