Very nice
First learned of Mike Schmid through the Black Donnellys and have purchased Dear Me, It's All True and High Cost of Living from this album. Also recommend Forget You, which is a demo only available on broadjam.com (sorry iTunes). Hate to categorize - you should discover him for yourself, but there's some Ben Folds comparisons that could be made, so if you like that style, you will probably like this too.
This IS it...
Mike Schmid has one of the most touching songwriting styles of any singer/songwriter artist out there. Every song on this album is a potential hit-to-be-made. I came across his song "Born Yesterday" on the Felicity Season 4 dvd and was in awe of his first album. The songs "To Show You My Love" and "Mirror" are probably the most instantly catching of this new album, but all the songs are worth listening to. Another Berklee-trained boy, like John Mayer, this artists proves that great singer/songwriters are few and far between. Buy this one.
LOVE this album!
"Wave Goodbye" is one of the most touching songs I've ever heard. The whole album is fantastic, but that song in particular really gets me every time. Mike's voice is velvety and honest, his piano playing is sensitive and tasteful, and his songwriting is nothing less than superb. Well done, Mike!
