Driving I-80 in the middle of the night. [ >Play ]
This is my favorite JP disk so far. Lush, broad strokes that transform to detailed focus, and back again. The disc flows really well from track to track and I recommend buying the whole disc. Stand out tracks include the urban folk tale "The Ballad of Biggie Smalls" and the simple and catchy "Elaine." The final track, "Oak Hill, West Virginia" puts a melodic bow on the end of this work with a tale about the final ride of Hank Williams, accompanied throughout with a beautifully fluid mandolin riff. This is a really nice collection of Americana at its listenable best. (No.. what really is destroying this country are idiots who are quick to comment when they are so remarkably uninformed So stop wasting our by time writing reviews on music you know nothing about, and go swallow up the talentless drivel that was marketed to you this month.)
