Customer Reviews

Eh....

Not the best assemblence of Yes. Missing major tracks from fragile and all of Close to the Edge. Missing Awaken from Going for the one. Missing Homeworld (The Ladder is a great album, check it out). Maybe Endless Dream and Asteral Traveler. Glad to see Leave It though, always thought it was one of the better vocal works by Yes. What happened to Talk?? Why is it not on iTunes?

Mark as helpful if you think Talk should be on iTunes.

To everyone who gave this 5 stars (Mike1976), this is not "true Yes." Jon Anderson said the most beautiful and satisfying song Yes had ever wrote was Awaken. Zero songs over 10 minutes. Yes has many tracks over 15 minutes. Why no Close to the Edge?! Clearly the best three songs ever to be released on the same album and they're not on "The very best of Yes." All of these songs are good but it seems who ever assembled them was playing it "safe." Doctordog has a point.

Album For The Average Fan

This album is a great buy if you like Yes' more popular material without all the added Progressive Rock or Live tracks. Of course the best tracks are 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12.

This band has never gotten the credit they truly deserve...Starship Trooper is such a kick *a* tune!

Far and away the longest lasting and the most successful of the '70s progressive rock groups, Yes proved to be one of the lingering success stories from that musical genre. The band, founded in 1968, overcame a generational shift in its audience and the departure of its most visible members at key points in its history to reach the end of the century as the definitive progressive rock band. Where rivals such as Emerson, Lake & Palmer withered away commercially after the mid-'70s, and Genesis...
