Hishou

i've just stumbled onto this group on another web site and came here to sample the songs. i started with the first album and worked my way through. i wanted to figure out which album to to order. i love the modern rock music too, and the remixes, but i found this looking for more traditional japanese music, so i chose this album, and figured i would download the few cool rock songs from the other albums. then i checked the reviews. i can't believe this album is getting ripped on. it rocks without a bass guitar and full backup band.

Better than their earlier work

This is my favorite of their records, it's the most consistent and it's the most mature. they still step outside of the box every now and then, and when they do it doesn't sound bombastic as it used to. Apart from that, it's really good and relaxing for the most part.

Not bad.

Their earlier work is better. I understand how hard it is to think of new and unique songs, but to those who are fans of The Yoshida Brothers, I guarantee you'll like almost half the songs from Hishou without much background music. Without the background music, you can listen to The Yoshida Brothers play their instruments by themselves and realize how talented they are. These songs are mature and creative, but they needed a little more spice/colour.

The Yoshida Brothers perform with the strength and swagger of rock guitarists, while respecting the shamisen and its rich heritage. The Yoshida Brothers hail from the city of Noboribetsu...
