Very Pleasant Surprise
I have loved this band since the 80's, but feared that this new album would be awful- unlike their early albums, which had unique pop mixed with deep brooding songs which often made one think of our science and technological future- and can happily report that this album is terrific. Beautiful in fact.
Absolutely Phenomenal
This is the best "comeback" album of any of the 80's bands. I do admit to being biased, as I have been a longtime OMD fan since the 1970's. This new venture brings back all of the original members of the OMD we came to love. It's a perfect blend of hard-hittin bass and the sounds that made OMD totally unique to any other band of their era. Andy's voice seems to have gotten better with age, and Paul, Martin and Malcom still shine. If you are a fan of electronic music, you will not be disappointed with History of Modern. A perfect album I will enjoy for many years to come.
Sweet melancholy ear candy
Incredible album...Paul Humphrey's influence is mixed so incredibly well with Andy's vocals. They really do work well together, glad to see them reunite. This album is like a perfect mix of Sugar Tax, Junk Culture & Crush from earlier times. Perfect blends of electronic synth. with some modern beats and that OMD sound that is always fresh with experimentation...truely it's one of the most solid albums from OMD. These guys are a fine wine indeed, they keep getting better with age. I just wish they'd tour the US soon. Money well spent for those of us that love groups like OMD, Erasure, and Depeche Mode.
