Album Review

Apart from "She Wants to Dance With Me," Astley's second album didn't have songs as strong as those on his debut. Most of the album was pleasant dance-pop filler, showing the weaknesses of the Stock, Aitken & Waterman production team.

Pure Pop, No More, No Less

"She Wants To Dance With Me" was my favorite song when I was 12. I remember watching the video and thinking what a cute kid Rick was. It is not great art but it is pure pop--songs that stick in your head as you think "who the heck sang that song again?"

Forgettable Fluff With No Longevity

Yes, Rick had, and probably still has, a fine voice. Unfortunately, he is neither an exceptional songwriter nor musician. Both this release and his debut album sound identical and dated. Compare the hit singles from the first album with She Wants To Dance With Me from this album - they are all basically the same song. And they are by far the best songs on both albums. The rest is of the albums' tracks are mediocre or worse.

Rick Astley is rad!

"Hold Me In Your Arms" is an amazing song.

After two hugely successful albums...
