New, complex & downright incredible...
by Kuta KretekJack Conte is a fellow of amazing talent. Hunt down his videos on youtube and you can see into his creative process: banging away on muted pianos, hiding delicate reversed toy xylophones in the mix, contorting his face to the emotion of what he's singing. And out comes raw, new, independant modern pop, existing not between but as a strange hybrid love child of the Pixies, Radiohead, Incubus, Stereolab, Aphex Twin, the Residents...These are a step away from bedroom recordings, and he doesn't always succeed 100%, but the odd structures and sounds and melodies will get lodged firmly in your head. Nicely done, Mr. Conte!
