Roots rock and blues for 77's fans

Been a huge 77's fan since the late 80's, and there has never been anything like this before! I just recently discovered Muddy Waters and BB King and Howlin Wolf and John Lee Hooker, and this 77's album is VERY bluesy! I nearly fell off the couch on first listen, it's just amazing. "You'll Be Sorry" has an incredible blues guitar motif, ringing at once like old blues and PRIMUS. Unbelievable that one of my favorite bands ever now has a blues album!!! I am in heaven.

If you like this, I strongly suggest giving the Lost Dogs a listen. Being a "hobby" band, the members of Lost Dogs aren't as hamstrung by the A&R people and can pretty much play what they LIKE, and much of that music is a cut above 98% of what constitutes Christian music--musically, anyway. Mike Roe is one of the long-time contributors (songwriting, vocal, guitar) of Lost Dogs, as well.

Last word about Holy Ghost Building, just listen to some of the cuts on preview and you'll see this is not your father's 77's (haha). Mike Roe can riff a blues guitar!

Holy Ghost Building

its awesome!!!! like southern rock blues with bite on a few tracks

Start with this one!

If you are just now looking at the 77s, start with this album, "Holy Ghost Building". I have been a huge fan since the mid 80's and this is one of their best albums. They took old hymns and arranged them into awesome blues rock. Mike Roe is one of the best guitar players ever! I saw them live last year when they released this album in a very small club in Marietta, GA. They played every song from this album plus a lot of old favotites. After you buy this one, go way back and find a copy of "Sticks and Stones".
