A chance worth taking
I'm very much a fan of classic rock, but after hearing "The Part Where You Let Go" in that Liberty Mutual commercial, I decided to give Hem's Home Again Home Again album a try. I'm glad I did; the female vocalist's voice is wonderfully ethereal and poignant to listen to. Every one of the songs left me both teary-eyed and smiling, especially "Half Acre" and "The Part Where You Let Go."

The genesis of the New York-based folk outfit Hem goes back to 1999, when songwriter Dan Messe teamed up with producer/engineer Gary Maurer (who had worked with artists such as Jon Spencer, Luna, Fountains of Wayne, and James Iha). The two wanted to make a record that would explore their interests in traditional American music while draping it in contemporary stylings.
