iTunes Review

Home finds Dierks Bentley in the enviable position of delivering radio-friendly tunes while retaining the ability to get adventuresome when he chooses. He brings a renewed sense of freedom and commitment to his mainstream country material (much of which he cowrote). Bentley serves up a rambunctious party anthem with “Am I the Only One” and turns “Breathe You In” into the sort of seductive ballad that careers are built on. He likewise paints an enticing picture of a back-road hideaway in “The Woods” and celebrates romantic obsession in “5-1-5-0.” More than anything, though, Home is about the everyday fabric of small-town life, portrayed in both joyful and melancholy tones. “Tip It on Back” is an ode to working-class pleasures that acknowledges current hard times, while the title tune takes an expansive view of America that draws strength from sacrifice. “Thinking of You”—featuring Bentley’s daughter Evie on vocals—closes the album on a tender, reflective note, with warmth and honesty consistently shining through.

Best album yet

I was a big fan of his album Up on the Ridge and thought that nothing could top that one... I was wrong. Just downloaded and listened to the album and I'm listening to it again. So many potential hits. My favorites are In my Head... just a perfect country song that you will get stuck in your head and will be singing along with for hours. Diamonds Make Babies... a whitty song that is both hilarious and catchy. Then the hilarious 5-1-5-0 that you will catch yourself just singing the line "5-1-5-0 somebody called the po-po." All around a wonderful album that you will want to listen to multiple times before wanting to do anything else. Definitely his best!

Bentley coming: HOME

A solid album by a Country star. Althought Bentley has had sucesses in the past, this album shows the distance that he's come in terms of coming to grips with who he is and what he stands for. And yet it's not all serious. The fun shines in Am I the Only One, and Tip It on Back. But ask any female, Bentley represents sexual tension in music, and that translates to Breathe You In. And When You Gonna Come Around. Bentley's gravel in his voice makes for that sensual sound even when the subject isn't sex. Thinking of you may have had his daughter in mind, but if you didn't know that, it would give you another dimension altogether.

An absolute stellar blowout. Buy it!

Genre: Country

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Growing up in a non-musical family in Phoenix, Arizona, country singer Dierks Bentley got his country music education on his own, listening to recordings. A love of the music inspired him to move to Nashville at the age of 19, but he quickly grew discouraged by the lack of public and professional interest coming his way. It all changed when he walked into the Station Inn, a bar where the bluegrass faithful hang out. An all-night jam session recharged his batteries and he restarted pursuing gigs....
