Rollickin' old-time honky tonk!
Delilah and the boys have put out a fun, playful debut album that really rocks the house. They're great live, too, and this album really does a good job capturing their exuberance and energy. In concert, Delilah stands on her bass and jams; this whole album offers the same kind of goodtime, old-fashioned honky-tonk vibe. Drivin' Nails is probably the best song on the album, with its devil-may-care appreciation of hard livin'. If the Sitting Bull instrumental doesn't get your blood pumping, I don't know what will. I encourage others to check this music out, especially if you like old-time country.
Ahhhh...REAL Hillbilly music.
Saying that this disc is just a great tribute to what REAL Hillbilly music used to be wouldn't quite be fair to this group of musicians. Clever songwriting, excellent tele work and the booming sound of the Doghouse bass make this disc a current classic. Great to hear this as opposed to that sissy stuff on todays country music radio. God bless DD and the LB's. Great listen for sure.
