iTunes Review
Ann Wilson of Heart’s first solo album is a study in intriguing contradiction. It has a tough, professional veneer but its extensive guest list (Elton John, Alison Krauss, Wynonna, Gretchen Wilson) gives the album a casual, playful feel and the unusual collection of obvious and obscure songs make the entire project feel like the fulfillment of a lifelong music fan’s dream. Yet, the songs were picked with an ear towards the mood of a world during wartime, whether the connection be literal or simply understood. The Animals’ “We’ve Gotta Get Out of This Place” (with Wynonna) takes on added heft, while the Youngbloods’ “Get Together” (with sister Nancy, Deana Carter and Wynonna) and “Darkness Darkness” receive modern facelifts that update the sound without losing the message. Lucinda Williams’ “Jackson” is kept as a weeping lullaby. Led Zeppelin’s “The Immigrant Song” sounds positively avant-garde. Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising” (with Gretchen Wilson, no relation) finds its way to the country end of the bar. John Lennon’s “Isolation” doesn’t match the primal urgency of the original (near impossible, actually) but Wilson still stirs its emotive core. Wilson’s one original, the delicate, acoustic “Little Problems, Little Lies,” slides in perfectly with its wistful hope settling alongside her palpable sorrow.

AND THE GRAMMY GOES TO? ANN WILSON!!!! FOR HOPE AND GLORY
This is THE BEST ALBUM TO COME OUT THIS YEAR. Anns voice is pure perfection and the songs are done in a fresh new way. I don't call this a cover album I call this a REMIX and redone only the way ANN WILSON can. She Delivers the Rockin Goods but also shows her softer side and on "ISOLATON" shows how much emotion she can put into a song. I say to all of you BUY THIS CD!!!! I have 2wice and now will have 3 after I download this onto my computer. Lastly Ann shows us sides we have never heard like on Jackson and Bad Moon Rising and Get together. But altogether this CD Deserves and Ann deserves a Grammy for Best Album and best Vocals by a female for War of man or Imigrant song. You pick your favorites, Because I guarantee you there will be many more than one. Peace, Hope and Glory to ALL!! Randy One
Hope & Glory - Worth the Wait
As odd as it may seem to hear Ms. Wilson sing Goodbye Blue Sky, it won't be long before you won't remember not hearing it in your head that way. This is a collection of RockNRoll's Greatest Hits sung by a voice that is more and more my choice of female vocalist, Ann Wilson. With the professional collaboration of artists like Elton John (we could stop right there!), k.d. Lang, Gretchen Wilson, Allison Krause, Rufus and not least of all Nancy Wilson, Ann Wilson recreates these songs, these moments in music history, and makes them her own without ever overshadowing the songs or the collaborators, with her unequalled vocal power and finesse. Just try listening "Immigrant Song" or "Where To Now St. Peter?" without gooseflesh - I just DARE you! And I've never heard a better cover than "Get Together" - almost as if this one was written to be eventually covered by Ms. Wilson. Yes, she'd THAT good. If you're like me, you live for the next release of an album like this - and are willing to suffer long periods of artistic starvation between nibbles. Well, nibble not here - It's time to DINE. This is an album to be savored and enjoyed. Consume this NOW!
WOW, what a voice!
This truly is an amazingly powerful album!
