Nashville’s music establishment had been in need of a good butt-whupping for some time when Big & Rich did the job in 2004. This bodacious duo shook up Music City with their hellacious (and often hilarious) debut album Horse Of A Different Color. Rather than pay homage to tradition, Big Kenny Alphin and ex-Lonestar member John Rich unashamedly mixed old and new Nashville elements with rock, rap and anything else that was handy. Radio got a dose of Big & Rich’s pungent humor with the hit “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy),” but this album has a lot more to offer than easy laughs. From the rebel manifesto “Rollin’ (The Ballad Of Big & Rich)” through the Haggard-esque “Kick My Ass” and the alcohol-drenched “Drinkin’ Bout You,” the duo both revel in and cleverly subvert familiar country clichés. When they want to, they can unleash rip-roaring Southern rock, as “Wild West Show” ably shows. But Big & Rich have heart as well as a funnybone — such tunes as ”Holy Water” are filled with unexpected empathy. Freewheeling, straight-shooting and bristling with attitude, Horse Of A Different Color is a hoot that packs a wallop.

Great Album
This album is that of an excellent one but of course my personal favorite song is Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy and if you are considering buying this album I definatly say go for it because it's worth every penny.
Crazy, but still country!
I'm a country lover, always have been, always will be. When big and rich 1st came out, i didn't like their stuff. It was to different! Well it grows on you, and i just recently perchased this album. It's refreshing, a nice twist on a good thing. There up beat style and funny lyrics make "A Horse of a Different Color" a must buy.
GREAT CD
This CD is the best country cd ive ever had. There isnt one bad song on it and everyones gotta love Save A Horse and Holy Water.
