long live frenchman street

I have no Idea how she is going to pull this off live in California ( thats where she is purported to have moved.)Part of the potency of this album lies in the sensitivity and experience of the New Orleans musicians who, for the better part of five years supported this sublime cresent city singer and writer on the Frenchman street. This is not kitch as another review points out; its sheer reverence and continuity of a different type of song style and New Orleans "swing". Linnzi Zaorski has this strange ability to use a minor 2nd cadence at the end of her phrases that delight and spook you into believing in the combined agony and pleasure implied in these songs. Seldom can one hear the type of "inside the life of the chords" passion that Matt Rhody brings out on the violin just to mention one of the soloists. I strongly recomend the cd which has "washboard" Chaz on it as well....

Fresh & Real

Great Listening to Billie's spirit through a young and exciting voice. Real Band @ it's pure soul place! Mahalo, Bettie

I've had this album for over a year...

...And still listen often. Classics are classics because they never get tired, and Linnzi has a great style that not only compliments the material but respects its origins. There's no mistaking a Linnzi Zaorski rendition for anything else. I call it Flapper Jazz, because the style and instrumentation is a throw back to a much earlier day. But it feels wrong to call it "retro;" there's no ham-fisted attempt to ape something trendy a few decades ago to be found here. There's no facade at all. It's just a rather large dose of good material done well, without any artifice or manipulation.
