Customer Reviews

yummy, tasty, groovy, and funky....

If you're familiar with Mr. Mark Farina, and if you happen to be a fan of his, then this review will do nothing for you, because you probably already bought the cd, and you're planning to see him play in SF or NY, or Ibiza (where this was recorded and mastered). If you're on the fence (who knows why?), then here's some perspective. Some believe Mark's best cd is the seminal San Francisco Sessions, Vol. 1 or his cd for United DJ's of America. Those are classics that stand on their own as classics. Is this a classic? Time will tell. However, this cd sets itself apart in that it relies less on jazzy or sample-heavy tracks that he is known for in his live shows. Moreover, it doesn't sound much like all the electro-y stuff that is popular these days (2007). Mark's House of Om is like this: It is house built on house. It is the joy of the bouncy bassline and the spark of looping melody, sewn together with the immense knack for funkyness that seems to be encoded on Mark's DNA. It is house music as depending less on sampling, and more on the producer's skill to make an organic, naturally moving sound that pleases the demanding ear while not overwhelming the senses. He keeps the crate diggers on their toes, too: find where Mark puts in that sample from Jack's Groove. Enjoy, and see you at the next show....

Farina Rocks da Bells AGAIN!!!

Good Lord! I have been listening to Farina since the Mid 90's and Even got a chance to spin at a party he was Headlining, and I cannot believe how unbelievably versatile he is. This CD takes me way back. To that Funky, Groovy House that he built his name on. Please, if you are even remotely interested in House music you need to pick this album up. It will have you groovin for months. THANK YOU MARK FARINA!!

Groove time

Mark Farina really put together a very smooth mix and the beats are very consistent and the whole album flows really well. As always Mark Farina is nearly flawless in his mixing and goes from track to track telling a comanding story with his turntables. If you are looking for the ultimate groove album, get your hands on this. Reminds me of the days back in Los Angeles at Dream.
