How it all began

It's said that the USA "doesn't get" electronic dance music. The ironic thing is, house and techno all grew up here in America. Chicago was the incubator for house music in the 80's (Detroit for techno), and this compilation is a great collection of those early pioneering tracks and artists. 'Move Your Body' is a timeless classic and still gets people bopping away (jackin'?) today. You can also hear how influential these tracks have been on dance music today: Mr. Fingers' 'Can You Feel It' synth chords and bass can be heard on progressive and trance numbers all over. If you feel like a bit of nostalgia, this is a nice compilation to add to your collection.

BTW, the previous reviewer should understand release dates in iTunes before claiming false advertising. This compilation was released 02/08/10. The tracks are, as it says in the compilation title, from the 80's. If you need to check when they were released exactly, Google can be your friend.

Great compilation, great price

There aren't too many surprises on this one; but at 7.99 you can't go wrong. Especially after looking around at some of the other Chicago/House compilations which still do the partial album (per track) pricing. The quality is like a 90s CD (i.e. not too loud or bass heavy). If you want good versions of Marshall, Farley, Frankie, Mr Fingers, Housemaster Boyz and Joe Smooth; I don't think you can do better than this. Time to back to Ableton Live and my APC40 (so I can Jack!).....

Like walking into a room of old friends...

Nothing but smiles all around... To the new generation of house fans- this is where you need to start doing your homework.
