iTunes Review
When she first started recording Human Brandy worked with a variety of new producers before reuniting with Rodney Jerkins, her longtime creative partner and mentor. Brandy and Jerkins had not worked together since 2002’s Full Moon and Human finds the pair rekindling their creative chemistry, which is the subject of “Piano Man.” “Finally breathing some clean air,” she sings, “Been through it and seen it / I put my star to fame / Now the spotlight was fading, he just kept on playing...” The rest of the album is a similar mix of fragility and focus. “Camouflage,” “Torn Down,” “Human” and “Shattered Heart” are among the most intense and personal songs Brandy has recorded. “The Definition” is the definitive Jerkins collaboration, a sweet, insistent melody on top of a thumping club rhythm. “True” is the song that best shows the maturity of Brandy’s voice, a poised ballad overseen by RedOne, the songwriting team behind Lady Gaga’s big hits. The hidden gem on Human is surely “A Capella,” a delirious catchy tune that layers dozens of vocal tracks to create a hypnotic atmosphere even without the help of big beats.

Better than Beyonce but most wont give her a chance...
This album is 100% better than Beyonce's cd however no one wants to admit it. Besides a few songs on Beyonce's cd, it appears that she(beyonce) threw some songs together and knew that she could depend on her fan base to purchase her cd - whereas Brandy actually put in a lot of effort and heart. Beyonce is soooo very overated and its sad because it dosent allow for artists such as Brandy to be considered #1. Get this cd ...it is worth the money and she gives you more than a 2 disk 10 song sloppy song CD (unlike Beyonce).
DONT MISS OUT!
This album is awesome. The previews dont do it justice, you must purchase it. The album is really amazing and I hope it doesn't get slept on. Brandy is truly underrated. PLEASE PURCHASE AND SUPPORT HER!!!!
Brandy-Human
Four year break since Afrodisiac, Brandy returns with a new label home (Epic/Knockout) and reunites with past mentor and producer, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Does Brandy come back better than ever? The Definition: Re-united with producer Darkchild, Brandy comes out strong as thumping drums and synths start things off. Brandy blends well with the production and comes out with a fresh sound. Her raspy vocals are evident in the final verse. 3/5 Warm It Up (With Love): Piano loop and uptempo drums back Brandy as she croons about warming the world up with love. A mature concept that serves as a genuine world anthem and fits Brandy’s personality. A nice track that deals with relationships and current world struggles. 3.5/5 Right Here (Departed): Selected as the lead single, the production is definitely radio ready, as pianos and a pop sound work well here. Brandy really shines on the hook and the bridge, where she goes from a whispery croon to building drum breakdown and celebratory finish. 4/5 Piano Man: Choppy synths and pounding bass drops, as Brandy’s vocals are decent. The hook is what really grabs you, as well as the bridge which uses some interesting instrumentation of strings and synth effects but it comes off as a weaker “Right Here (Departed)”. Nonetheless it’s a solid effort. 3.5/5 Long Distance: Piano driven production about long distance relationships hits your eardrums well, as supporting synths and drums add dramatic effect. Vocally Brandy sounds refreshing on here, there’s something missing from making it a perfect single, but it’s a creative creation between Darkchild and Brandy that is relevant to many relationships. 4.5/5 Camouflage: Brandy continues with positive messages and radio ready jams of synth, piano and drum productions. Decent track here that has Brandy singing about a relationship not being worth it if she has to camouflage. 3/5 Torn Down: Different instrumentation from the previous tracks, yet continuing the uptempo theme, Brandy sings about not being torn down. Decent. 3/5 Human: Brandy’s vocals are well sung and Toby Gad’s production gives the song a beautiful bridge that will capture listeners. Brandy’s singing about the album’s theme of being “perfectly human” and “just staying alive”, its a wonderful track that has Brandy opening up and letting loose vocally. 4/5 Shattered Heart: With a simple production of pulsating drums hits and other added instruments inserted throughout, the track isn’t as good as it should be. The production has an interesting drum pattern, however the hook doesn’t quite work as well as it should and becomes a bit dull during the verses. Still a decent track that has some good production. 3/5 True: RedOne handles production duties that would be good, however the drums sound really bad. Otherwise, the soul searching strings work nicely, as Brandy delivers her true ballad here that is quite genuine. A truly beautiful number that will definitely touch listeners hearts about love being true. 4/5 A Capella (Something’s Missing): Probably the most unique cut, Soundz serves as the producer, utilizing Brandy as the bass and claps, while electric guitar jams out in the background. The harmonizing it quite beautiful and this is probably the most creative effort on the album. 3.5/5 1st And Love: The production is decent, it isn’t until the heavy drums come in, that the track actually sounds good. Lyrically the hook and verses are decent, but the song gets better later on. 3/5 Fall: Brandy offers assurance on this dramatic effort that bounces from exhilarating to clam clap tempo. The raspy vocals are back and sounding better than ever as this pop number is solid. 3.5/5 Gonna Find My Love: Uptempo and relevant with the material already on the album, its a decent bonus. 3/5 Brandy’s new release delivers a matured and safer approach for her return. The album’s production works well and numerous tracks sound ready for radio play, with a positive and personal feel to many of the tracks. While it may not be as fun, because several songs contain personal lyrics, the album is definitely a statement in Brandy’s career. “Right Here (Departed)” has a pop sound that will definitely catch on with its anthemic atmosphere, the building and epic “Long Distance” works well in its balance of vulnerability and reflection, as the unique “A Capella (Something’s Missing)” shows some creativity. While some tracks become a bit too pop and sounding similar, Brandy opens up with mature writing, making the appropriately titled Human all that more enjoyable and a worthy return.
