iTunes Review

Jamaican-born music and fashion legend Grace Jones returns with her first U.S. release in over twenty years, an album that has been circulating in Europe since 2008. With a little help from friends Sly & Robbie, Tricky, Wendy and Lisa, Brian Eno and co-producer Ivor Guest, Jones takes her rightful place in a pop world that’s only managed to keep pace with her innovations. The title track, featuring Tricky, works over a stark, unnerving groove that’s pure eerie hell. “This Is” is an aggressive statement of purpose from a performer who has never lacked for one. “Corporate Criminal” works up a rather cold and ominous view of the world. “I’m Crying (Mother’s Tears),” a song in memory of her mother, is an unusual piece of warmth and sentiment. “Devil In My Life” is an evocative noir piece that further proves Jones’ dominance. It should be noted the Deluxe Edition of the album contains both the Hurricane album and its Dub Version of the album.

The Original "Shock Queen" is back!

All of today's "Shock Divas" come from this Mothership! Grace gave birth to great music, great fashion and great artistic interpretation almost 35 years ago. She has returned to show this generation who's the Boss! This music is everything that made Grace fantastic, with a whole lot of modernity to make it accessible and relevant today. Buy it and play it LOUD!

Really still NO one like her.....

Grace for the ages, sprinkle n' some Massive attack into that muscular fine as red wine vocal delivery, add some R&B smoothness and some real life honesty and
you get HURRICANE, an excellent collection of tunes Grace has been taking out on the road the past couple years, finally available in the states. At 63 years young, this lady
is closer to an icon diva than anything out there these days, with a history to back her. Her vocals have matured into quite an instrument, I like this shape shifting and look forward to more new music to come in 2012 , Grace is
on a role, a very welcome comeback into this musical blandness. The dub stuff is also excellent.

Slave To Grace

Miss Grace Jones returns with possibly her best album to date. A grandoise mashup of new wave, funk, electronica, and chillout soul represent Hurricane in the best possible manner. Oh yes! the dub mixes should be heard on your ipod after a few cosmos to really give you a chillout effect.

Grace Jones was one of the more unforgettable characters to emerge from New York City's hedonistic Studio 54 disco scene during the late '70s. Born May 19, 1952, in Kingston, Jamaica, Jones studied theater at Syracuse University before launching a career as a model. Jones' statuesque and flamboyant look proved to be a hit in the New York City nightclub scene, which led to a recording contract with Island Records in 1977. While such disco-based albums as 1977's Portfolio, 1978's Fame, and 1979's Muse...
