Best Hip Hop Album in a long while
I have never written a music review but felt compelled after about the 100th straight listen to Tha Connection's LP entitled Hus X Smoovth. Lyrically driven, Tha connection this album does not let the listener down on the production side of the fence. From Sade samples on tracts like Royale to the ever ambient Thunderball that is sure to make any Mannish fan get goosebumps, this album works its way through diverse production form start to finish. Both MC's lyrics are out of this world. The listener is taken through "feeling" driven rhymes, using metaphors in such a fresh way. It never feels that words are used to just make rhymes and samples are thrown over to complete. No, this album paints a story that not only comes together like a perfect storm, but also punches you in the face later with powerful messages. For any lover of Hip Hop this CD is more than a must, it will contain at least one tract in your newly arranged top ten list.
