Nails it

Brilliance
After an album as virtually flawless as his first, I was somewhat nervous to hear Adam Arcuragi's second full length release. It hardly seemed possible for anything to compare to that debut. But the beauty of I Am Become Joy is that it isn't comparable; it is brilliant in altogether different ways. Beginning to end, this album is gorgeous, an absolute delight to hear. Your fingers will tire of hitting the button to start it over long before you tire of listening.
long live Death Gospel
i am always simply unable to define or categorize Adam's song writing, not because it is some death defying amalgamation of genres or influence, but when bombarded with charlatans or artists with good intentions, or awash in a sea chords, notes and words, some things are just their own beacon of something greater than "genuine" or "real deal". i often joke "it's kind of like church, minus all the religion" because i don't know how else to describe the immense goodness i feel listening to (or seeing) him perform, made only more apt by the inclusion of the word "Joy" in the title. and this is indeed inclusive music to be shared and for all; as though the songs are one big all-souls-wide "come gather here." it has been said that god, whatever your definition, is in the details, and the details are abound here, from all at once live takes with the Lupine Choral Society, hints of laughter, the ebb and flow of instruments washing on the shores and armatures of Adam's brilliant talents as a singer and songwriter. i hope there is always an Adam Arcuragi to be a vessel for these kinds of sounds and feelings, and also a label like High Two Records which appreciates and makes available
