Amazing vocals and arrangements
This album is great. I love especially Fool's Gold. The Snow just keep getting better and better with each record. the arrangements on this album are intense with clarinets, stunning female and male vocals. They know how to be minimal and not over produce and the songs are so great they don't need tons of production. Amazingly executed. great for long drives on lonely highways!
Pretty amazing if you ask me
I love this album. Great vocal harmonies layered with amazing horn sequences seems to be their trademark, and in songs like Moral Debtor and Handle Your Weapon where this is underscored by really brilliant lyrics (see also Reptile and I Fell In) you are left with a sense that this band is dedicated to perfecting a sound they can call their own. Both Pierre de Gaillande and Hilary Downes are putting more force behind their voices, and their sense of pace and timing couldn’t be more spot-on when coupled with a cacophony of fantastic wind instrument arrangements. True Dirt had some great gems, like a phenomenal cover of I’m on Fire or the instantly lovable Too Clean, but their latest release reaches a higher plateau in terms of storytelling, delivered with plenty of smiles, grins, sighs and sideways glances. File under: charming, swanky, lilting originality.
I Die Every Night
The Snow is one of the most original bands around. Their instrumentation is amazingly unique and their lyrics are smart and sassy. I Die Every Night has variety and is a great showcase for what they can do.
