I Fear You, My Darkness
Wow, what a solid debut from this Minneapolis-based duo! I rarely hear music anymore that I want to buy and spend time with immediately upon hearing a sample, but that was the case with I Fear You, My Darkness. The beats are a twisted version of dark '80s synth and drum machine used in the best possible non-ironic way. The vocals are sexy, haunting and drenched in the ethereal vibe that the music creates. Can't wait for more from these guys. Peace.
Believe the Hype [Seriously!]
Amazing album, epic live performance. This dynamic duo bring the sexy beats each and every time. Definitely worth getting on your feet and dancing to.
Believe the Hype
I bought the entire album on the strength of "Believe the Hype" alone. The rest of the songs are decent, but that song is haunting. What a beautiful, deep melody - and what stunning vocals. It's been a long time since I've listened to a song on a blog and gone immediately searching for it. I had a visceral reaction to the song. For some reason, it reminds me of two things clearly: 1) being at a Cranes concert in Manhattan in 1994 and 2) driving home in Arizona late at night in the summer with the windows down, although I'm sure you could insert practically any other place where the word "Arizona" is and get it right. It's beautiful. Buy it.
