Great Album!!
This album can be crazy and brutal but be melodic and technical the very next second. This is definitely a must buy if you like the dillinger escape plan, mr. bungle and between the buried and me.
You, yes YOU, this album will blow you away.
How does this CD only have 1 review and 5 ratings so far?!?! Take one listen to this album and you will wonder how these guys aren't huge at this point. This is honestly one of the most impressive CDs in my entire library. These guys are local band from where I live and they are extremely talented. When you hear people compare these guys to Deftones, Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried and Me, and Incubus, those aren't exaggerations. these guys could easily be out co-headlining with any of those bands. Just take a listen to this album and you will understand what i mean. People like to throw around "progressive" and "experimental" with a lot of hardcore/metal bands out there, when in reality not many of those bands are actually progressive at all. Exotic Animal Petting Zoo IS a true example of progressive and experimental metal/hardcore. In fact it's hard to call it metal or hardcore because it breaks away from the mould of any sound so much that it turns into its own unique genre of music. I've honestly never heard anything quite like this city and I couldn't possibly classify it to any one or even multiple genres. What's even more impressive is the fact that this album was made with only 3 members, and they currently have 4 members total, yet by their huge sound you would swear it was a 5 or 6 piece band.
The amount of creativity and musicianship on this album is mind-blowing, simply put. Check this CD out and spread it around. You won't regret it. Once they get the exposure they deserve, theses guys actually will be co-headlining with bands like Dillinger Escape Plan.
