Potty Mouth Vixen

This album is amazing the way she can sing and rap is incredible. The beats are fantastic and all of the songs are standouts in their own way. Definitely a very good first album I hope to hear big things from her.

Poseur music...

Yes, I said it... Poseur music. Sorry, but true. Look, there are a couple of good tracks that make this fun to listen to. But, unfortunately, it is not very inventive and comes off really contrived. The second I heard it, all I could feel was "Been there, done that". Overall, this music sounds nothing like MIA or Santogold which the album review would like to imply. Not even close. To feel your way to making that connection is tacit at best. In fact, it sounds more like a very contrived version of those artists, then add Kylie Minogue and Fergie to fluff it up for mainstream consumerism. If I had to describe what I mean, this is what Lady Ga-Ga is to Kylie Minogue. A bad attempt at trying to do something that was done before. You can feel this artist is over-produced and there is nothing that really sets her apart from the rest. It is interesting that she comes from a label that has produced decent music in the past. But, with this artist, no one has made any attempts to stretch themselves and think out of the box. Plain and simple, while it does make it interesting that woman can show their sexuality and sauce up her lyrics with explicit words [Can you say Peaches?], it doesn't mean that the this formulaic attempt works for me. As it was once said by Stravinsky... "Good composers borrows, great composers steal". This is just borrowed material, repackaged, thrown against the wall to see if it will stick.
