Spectacular! Truly a brilliant work!
Beltrami's understanding of orchestral composition is genious. He knows just how much is enough from each instrument. Sometimes the album even has a minimalist quality. Even more impressive to me was his use of electronic and acoustic percussion. Beltrami's percussive ideas were nothing short of sensational. The way the rhythms sometimes overlap each other in tracks such as the "I, Robot Theme" are just beautiful and add a gorgeous color to the sound. Additionally, "Spiderbots" is one of the most exciting orchestral works I have heard. The Horn section and the use of dynamics in this piece are extremely impressive. Throughout most of the album I got a real sense of struggle. At the end of the album, "Round Up" really left me with a sense of resolution and peace. I also have to say that I am deeply impressed with Beltrami's ability to make his main theme sound and feel like so many different emotions throughout the album. Overall this is just a rockin' musical work!
Great Soundtrack! Worth buying!
I've seen this Movie at the theater and I purchased the PSP UMD Video. I brought the soundtrack today, this is a must have! The one biggest misconceptions that people have is that sound is 50% of the movie! This is definitely worth listening to. My complaint though is that this company unlike John Williams, Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman the tracks are out of order! They don't match the actual performance schedule like the movie. Example Track 3: I, Robot Theme (End Credits) should be the 15th song or the last track on this CD. First Soundtrack I ever seen this, but still worth buying.
Wow.
Where has Marco Beltrami been hiding? We need more of his music! It is truly, very dramatic, and inspiring. The ones that stand out most (to me at least) are I, Robot Theme, Main titles, Need Some Nanites, and Tunnel Chase. A very, very good musical score. Bravo!
