This is my story for the past year in life!!!!
Bankruptcy, a flood, sold house, trying to pay off debt, husband out of work for 2 years now....and I smile! I smile because God first loved me, and He is in control! Has taken great care of us through all of these trials!!! Yes! You must keep smiling! Praising God!!! Looking for things to turn around, and He gets glory this whole time - good and bad all glory is His!!! Thanks so much Kirk!

dude, idk if u notice or not, but this is "Gospel" music, the message never changes. And as far a "musically" (just in case u weren't referring to the message of the song) well the old saying goes "if its not broke, dont fix it". If someone is "smiling" today that wasn't smiling yesterday after hearing this song, well to God be the Glory! If someone simply opened there bible up today and read it, or put up a prayer, or did or did NOT do something b/c of this song, once again, to God be the glory. This is an awesome song. And the words are powerful.
I Smile Too!
How can one say this song does not line up with God's word. You mean that love, joy and the holy ghost power has nothing to do with God's word? Christians listen up: You don't want to be so heavenly bound, that you are no earthly good. The heart of God's word isn't whether you can quote a lot of scriptures, beat your church members in finding sciptures in the bible, or to attend every service your church has, the heart of God's message is how you treat others and yourself through God's word. I believe with all my heart that God and the angels dance to this song before God gave this song as a gift to kirk franklin to share with all of us, his people. I smile means to have peace when things are going well or when things are not going well because you have Faith that regardless of what you are going through or how your circumstance may look, that God will work it out for the good. My favorite line in this song is when Kirk Franklin says: every day ain't gone be perfect but it still don't mean today don't have purpose. Plus, having a relationship with God takes more than the ministry of music; you need the other parts of the body of christ, like the ministry of God's word. Just because you are the eye of the body Christ and see things your way, does not mean there is no need for the ears ( to hear the joy and pain of others) the mouth (to speak love or rebuke when needed) or hands (to hold on or catch the weak before they fall). A lot of Christians need to ask God to teach them how to truly love themselves and others his way, not their way.
