Customer Reviews

As expected, Bloc Party comes through.

I, along with many other Blocheads, have long awaited A Weekend in the City and this is one of the best singles from it. Definitely anticipate "A Song for Clay (Disappear Here)" and "Hunting for Witches" and don't you dare miss "Uniform"...but pick up this one as well. It's a great taste of Bloc Party's superb album coming up in early February. God Bless Bloc Party!

Fantastic

Bloc Party's first U.S. single, "I Still Remember", is certainly a departure from their old sound. It is definitely more poppy, less dance-punk, and is definitely LESS lyrically abstract than any song off of "Silent Alarm". That being said, Bloc Party has not become the new Coldplay or The Fray. Hardly. Instead, they've become slightly more appealing to the general pop/rock audience without selling out. In fact, I've heard a lot of their new album, and this is by far the most poppy song on it. I personally love this song, and I find it beautiful, but if this makes you think that Bloc Party has gotten too tender, then I must tell you that the rest of the album is not like this. That being said, this song is a great one and is worth $0.99 any day of the week.

Constant

It sounds enough like their previous works to do two things. First, to maintain their current fans. Second, to pull in new fans who weren't so sure about this type of music. This means, I can't wait for some more Bloc Party in their new album!

Consisting of singer/guitarist Kele Okereke, guitarist Russell Lissack, bassist/singer Gordon Moakes, and drummer Matt Tong, the band was formerly known as Angel Range and Union before settling on Bloc Party. Okereke and Lissack met each other through mutual friends at the Reading Festival, and discovered that they had musical tastes as well as friends...
