Customer Reviews
It all depends on who you prefer
I have been following Iced Earth's albums since Horrow Show, but I soon purchased all of them after I started with Horrow Show. In my opinion this is a catch 22 because both Matt Barlow and Tim Owens voices are so ungodly good that Iced Earth would be losing either way they went, but regardless of who is the lead singer I believe this is gonna be something that I have always expected from Iced Earth and that is, excellence. By far they have to be some of the best I have ever heard. It is defintely worth checking out.
Murder? thats abit extreme
I love the "Ripper" albums and was quite disapointed when the news of Matt's return was announced, with that said; I must admit that this e.p. is great, having Matt back in the band is like putting on that old leather jacket that just fits perfectly, it just feels right! though "A charge to keep" sounds way better with "Ripper" ;)
Perfect! New Life Through Matt Barlow
Iced Earth has truly returned this time! After the murder of two albums with immense potential at the stranglehold of Tim “Ripper” Owens, our savior Matt Barlow returns with his unique and powerful voice. Returning with Barlow is the continuation of the Something Wicked storyline. Revelation Abomination (Something Wicked Pt. 2) is shaping up to be something brilliant already. Founder Jon Schaffer starts off with track ten of the upcoming album as a single, displaying once again his story-enriched lyricism. We are immediately taken away by Barlow’s voice soon-after a heavy intro. “I Walk Among You” contains a deeply powerful chorus that could only be sung so perfectly by Barlow. “I Walk Among You” reminds us of the zest that Iced Earth so often bestows upon listeners, sweeping them away and hurtling them through the Sacred Flames. The following songs are remakes of songs previously sung by Owens. These songs are beautifully done. Those remakes prove that Matt Barlow can make any song unbelievably good. So give three cheers for Iced Earth (or however many you want) and celebrate the return of Matt Barlow and the long awaited departure of Tim “Ripper” Owens!
