I Want More of The Hours
Bravo.
Sometimes, I feel as if I'm the only fan of The Hours out there in the world. That's pretty paradoxical when they're throwing out powerhouse tunes like these, isn't it?
This EP demonstrates their ability to maintain most of their sound while experimenting with different aspects of popular music trends. While it isn't as catchy as all of the previous songs (I know each by heart), I Want More sets the stage for a truly essential type of music.

I Want More-
this is my favorite off this EP. I absolutely love the chorus. Its definitely The Hours-esque. The lyrics convey all their previously expressed values and ideals. I LOVE the piano, but I hate how it's overshadowed mostly by everything else. Echoing is a no, Antony. It makes your vocals sound washed out. You have such a talented voice. Don't underestimate it. Also, the technical sound effects (sounds like Halloween gone wrong) are okay for the club, not your sophisticated style.
I Wanna Be Happy-
it's close..the lyrics have no sustenance. The second verse sounds a little more like them, but the instrumentals are all wrong.
Soul Music for the Troubled Souls-
great vocals, piano part, percussion volume, and meaning. The only thing that throws me off is the gospel choir... It doesn't fit. I do like the bridge talking about the songs on the radio, though. The guitar between the chorus and second verse is pretty radical (in a good way.) I feel like the piano solo towards the last minute of the song was just randomly thrown together at the last minute.
Touched By the Hand of God-
probably my second favorite. Stunning intro. A little overdone with the echoing again. But it creates a dreamy effect that really fits the tone and mood of the song. A little toned down would be the perfect amount to really send chills up spines. I also like the sudden change. Maybe a little too sudden, but I guess the purpose of this song is surprise. The chorus is really powerful, too. "Wake up from your sleep..."
You Cant Kill Love-
this cannot possibly be The Hours. the lyrics are meaningless. It seems like the rhymes are forced instead of natural like "Big Black Hole." this doesn't even seem like anything that would be produced by Antony.
My formula for your next successful album...
"People Say" piano, drums, & guitar + the power of "See The Light" chorus + "Touched by the Hand of God" sound - auto-tune - excessive echoing.
If you lose your originality, you lose the quality of your music. I like the I Want More EP, but I'm not obsessed with it like I am with Narcissus Road and Its Not How You Start, Its How You Finish. I love that classic, raw sound of the piano as the main contributer, with a subtle guitar riff, soft percussion, witty remarks, heavy accent, heavenly harmonization and meaningful lyrics. That really made you sound like a Brit band. That's what turned me on in the first place. You guys truly are one of a kind. I realize that sometimes, you have to make adjustments to see where you really need to stand, and that's okay. I Want More was an acceptable adjustment.
slightly disappointing
Their album "It's not how you start, it's how you finish" was magical. I was hoping they would make more songs like "Narcissus Road", "Big Black Hole", and "Icarus". The songs on this EP aren't bad. They're just different. They are still worth buying but in my opinion this EP not as good as their previous album.
