A Truly American Masterpiece
Sad, desperate, thrilling and joyfully thoughtful, this album could well be the finest album of the year. It's Americana with a dash of soulful country that can send you off crying in the corner or hanging your head out the window on a sunny day happy to be just alive. Intelligent lyrics, masterful composition and the jagged, ragged and gorgeous voice of Kamys make this a must-buy for anyone who just loves music period. Listening to this album makes me feel like I've just seen a gorgeous movies, and that's a very strange (but good) feeling.
Some of the best new music I've heard.
This is a terrific collection of songs. Moody at times, with interesting lyrics delivered by a unique voice, Caught Between Two Worlds is reminiscent of Lenard Cohen’s finest.
A Triumph of a Recording
At first listen, most are going to want to compare this CD to works by Tom Waits, Levon Helm, and and some of Austin’s finest like Steve Earle and Townes Van Zant, but after a while you realize Kamys is original and incomparable, which for the music fan who is always looking for originality, makes I Want Some Sun a true gift. Highly recommended.
