iTunes Review
The British Invasion for the new millennium isn’t coming from England, but from inside the United States, where bands like the Killers emulate decades bygone with wonky synths and peppy, glam melodies that recall the days of Bowie, New Order, and Duran Duran. Ditched by his synth-pop group Blush Response, singer-keyboardist Brandon Flowers teamed with guitarist Dave Keuning in the Las Vegas sun and within a week had penned “Mr. Brightside,” the band’s first single and a musical blueprint for their debut album. Combining lyrically ambitious narratives – “Jenny Was A Friend of Mine” and “Midnight Show” confront murder, “Andy, You’re a Star” a stalker – with musically lush and anthemic riffs, the Killers instill their music with a sense of urgent drama and cinematic intrigue. “All These Things That I’ve Done” adds a gospel choir, whereas the single “Somebody Told Me” settles for an irrepressible chorus that sounds like the Human League discovering heavy metal in an after-hours leather bar.

They're On Top - The Killers
The Killers are definitely the best new band in America today. There's something on this album for anybody. Synths, Blasting chords, Perfect lyrics, and some amazing dudes. Brandon, Ronnie, Mark, and Dave have put together some of the coolest alt. rock tracks in years, and people, they just started. If you have the album and love it, keep on rockin. If you don't, buy it now or else your missing out the sharp, stylish band from Vegas. Ladies and Gentlemen, The Killers. Oh, watch out for their new CD Spring '06...and you thought Hot Fus was good. -Double E
The Killers: Giving Life to the new Genre
It's rock you can dance to. Some people call it the new 'new wave', some people call it synth pop. I call it dance rock. Complete with killer synth hooks, simple 1-2 dance beats and house-style drum fills, the killers combine indie-type garage vocals with a sound that's irresistibly modern and urban. A sound that's simple but layered. I downloaded this album immediately upon release in 2004 and have not been disappointed since. Every song is exceptional. And my favorite song on the album hasn't really gotten much airplay - it's 'Jenny Was a Friend of Mine'. The Killers almost singelhandedly put dance rock in the limelight, helping pave the way for similar acts The Bravery, Bloc Party, and various other flavors of the week, as well as re-establish less known new wavers such as The Faint. If you like the electronic dance rock sound, also try lyric-free Ratatat. If you haven't downloaded this album yet, where have you been?
Fantastic!
This is possibly the best album I've purchased in years. If I may borrow from a Sum 41 album title, and a pun on the band name itself, this Killers album is indeed "all killer, no filler." Tired of albums with one or two songs worth a repeat listen? Give Hot Fuss a go. You shan't be disappointed. I can't wait for their follow-up effort. Bravo, Killers, bravo!
