iTunes Review
The cover of Myth Takes, art-funkers !!!’s third album, suits the music perfectly: Illustrations of a woodsy party with folks and animals mingling, its packed, phantasmagorical style is the equivalent of what the group is doing these days. Seemingly building songs from the inside out, groove first, !!! aim at filling every space. “Must Be the Moon,” a lyrically detailed recollection of a one-night stand, is the most overtly accessible track. “Sweat Life” hangs its impressionistic observations on an intense vamp that grows into an almost industrial stack of noise, while “Heart of Hearts” takes firm control of a Gary Glitter-style stomp. The Sacramento octet’s most experimental album yet, Myth Takes suggests plenty of new directions for their sound.

Solid work from the !!! crew.
I first heard !!! on WOXY.com with "Me and Juliani Down by the Schoolyard (A True Story)" a couple summers ago, and was hooked. Not often can a 9+ minute song keep me interested, but not only is it danceable, it was darn catchy. With the MythTakes album, you get more of that techno-funk dancy feel and can see a band that is maturing in their art quickly. You'll love "Heart of Hearts", and "Bend over Beethoven". A solid new album for anyone who enjoyed "Louden Up Now"
Another very nice effort
I agree with Yes Sir... that maybe it is more deserving of a 4 than a 5 star rating. I do feel that some balancing needs to be done account for someone giving it a 1 star for no apparent reason other than they are a hater? Speaking of nutjobs...good morning Mr. Penguin.
Evolving
It's great to listen to the evolution of this band. This album is especially solid. It took a few tries to get into but after the 2nd or 3rd straight through I really appreciated the direction they are going in. It seems more technical than their previous endeavors yet still remains light and catchy. Infinifold is an especially great song, and the catch in Heart of Hearts is awesome.
