Surprisingly Very Very Good
Now I had high expectations for this, based on punches and beats, because Ive always been a Loso fan.Having him moved to Def Jam got me nervous because of how theyve been strugling lately, and Diamonds didnt really impress me all that much. But, Return of the Hustle I really liked, and Make Me Better is my favorite song all year. So, I was hyped for this, but it was wayyyyy better than I thought Knowing Fab, I expected songs for the chicas like First Time and Baby Dont Go.Baby Dont Go was only decent, a nice flow from Fab, T-Pain actually sounded very different than he normally does, but the beat was just kinda boring.Fab still killed the flow though, so the song was good.First Time with Rihanna I really liked too, and Rihannas my girl she was good on it too. But, songs like Change Up and What Should I Do were really surprising for Fab.Change Up is about how the rap game screws up ur life, and What Should I Do deals with peoples problems.I was surprised he did songs like that, and he still managed to hit those punches.I also really liked Brooklyn, which Ive been listening too a lot the past week or so thanks to Myspace.Jay-Z and Uncle Murda were great too, and the beat was hot. Gangsta Dont Play was alright, but it was a change of pace cuz of the reggae sound. The Intro was only OK too, beat was iiight but Fab did have some good lyrics.Yep Im Back was pretty good, the beat and lyrics were good.Real Playa Like has a retarded name, but is actually good.Same goes for Im the Man, but this song has an awesome vibe, and is perfect for radio/clubs.It sounds like a Lil Jon beat, with an East Coast sound to it.Jokes on You is pretty awesome, with hot lyrics by both Pusha T and Loso. The best track thou is the last, This is Family, featuring Paul Cain, Red Cafe. Freck Billionaire, Ransom, and my boy Joe Budden. Loved the beat and lyrics Overall, this is what u expected from Fabolous. However, he knew he had to step his game up after 3 years off and a new label in a new era of hip hop where artists dont sell as much. And he did this in an awesome way, best album all year so far defiantly grab this.
A Little More Than Your Average Something
Fabolous has been missing from the game for three years. His new album is full of top-notch production and solid guests. At times, Fabolous has some very tired lyrics, but one thing he can always count on is great beats from his wonderful production. There are also times where Fabolous's lyrics are very crisp and even mind-blowing. I wonder what Fabolous would be like without his Grade A production. Here is my Track-By-Track Review: Yep, I'm Back- average track about Fabolus's abscence from the game and how he has returned. 3/5 Stars. Change Up- features Akon. About how he has not been changed by all of his success and fame. Near-perfect chorus by Akon. 5/5 Stars. Make Me Better- features Ne-Yo. Produced by Timbaland. Fabolous has some outstanding lyrics in this song. A key line is "I'ma need Coretta Scott, if I'm gonna be King". Ne-Yo's chorus is a wonderful touch to the song. the album's finest. 5/5 Stars. Baby Don't Go- features T-Pain. Produced by Jermaine Dupri. T-Pain's chorus is very nice to a pretty good overall song. 4/5 Stars. Return Of The Hustle- features Swizz Beatz. Produced by Just Blaze. A true clubanger. Catchy chorus from Swizz Beatz. 5/5 Stars. Gangsta Don't Play- features Junior Reid. Very nice reggae touch to the album. 4/5 Stars. Real Playa Like- features Lloyd. Produced by Polow Da Don. Very unoriginal bragging song for the ladies. 3/5 Stars. First Time- features Rihanna. I wish Rihanna had done more than just sing the chorus. Fabolous brings only average lyrics. 3/5 Stars. Diamonds- features Young Jeezy. I am very surprised that Jeezy is part of such a lyrically lacking song. The entire song- the chorus, the lyrics the beat is just very unoriginal and boring. 2/5 Stars. Brooklyn- features Jay-Z. Another shock is how boring Jay-Z's verse is in this song. Fabolous also adds average lyrics. 3/5 Stars. I'm The Man- features Red Cafe. A very good beat is wasted here by tired bragging lyrics from Fabolous. 2/5 Stars. Jokes On You- features Pusha T of Clipse. Another good beat is ruined by Fabolous. Pusha T adds some nice lyrics. 3/5 Stars. What Should I Do- features Lil Mo. Produced by Amadeus. Mindblowing lyrics. In this song it seems that Fabolous is reading fan mail and giving advice to everyone's problems. Reminds me of Runaway Love by Ludacris. Very nice chorus by Lil Mo. 5/5 Stars. This Is Family- very boring lyrics. 2/5 Stars. Supa- not much of a bonus. 2/5 Stars. Top 5 Songs: 1)Make Me Better 2)What Should I Do 3)Change Up 4)Return Of The Hustle 5)Gangsta Don't Play Final Thoughts: I would not recommend that you buy the entire album. Instead, only buy the top 5 songs and baby Don't Go. Fabolous was really saved by his wonderful production, without it he would not have made a very good album. I wonder what he would be like without his top-notch producion.
GET THE SONGS "BABY DON'T GO" and "Diamonds"
I just love both these songs but the better song BY FAR is 'Baby Don't Go'. Fab raps raw on that song and T-Pain brings the pain and fills up the chorus with a wonderful tune. JUST HOPE THE RADIO DOES'NT Overplay this wonderful jam...
