iTunes Review
A duo based in the Bay Area, Zion I have a well-earned reputation for highly imaginative beats and socially aware lyricism. Amp Live's production is amongst the most unpredictable in hip-hop, drawing from a diverse range of styles including drum-n-bass, hyphy, and hard rock. Zumbi (previously known as Zion) mixes things up on the microphone as well, his elastic, high-pitched verses touching on issues like community and the struggle, but unafraid to cut loose for straight party jams as well. Released in 2000, Mind Over Matter is their first official album, and is also their most influenced by electronic dance music. Skittering drum hits, wildly fluctuating BPMs, intergalactic synths, and glutenous bass tones are the order of the day here, crafting a boldly futuristic sound that was completely different from anything else at the time. It was critically acclaimed and featured stellar singles like "Revolution (B-Boy Anthem)," "Venus," and "Critical" with Planet Asia. Highly recommended for fans of other Cali crews like Blackalicious, Freestyle Fellowship, and Hieroglyphics.

Simply the best
Not only is this album great, but it's the only one like it. The drum-n-bass beats combined with Zion I's smooth lyrical delivery make this his best (and most unique) album.
