iTunes Review
Rapper Sean Daley (Slug) and DJ/producer Anthony Davis (Ant) have been representing Minne-ho-ho with pride for nearly 15 years, inspiring a slew of underground hip-hoppers in the process. The duo has always fit in rather well with the alt-indie rock crowd, thanks not only to their DIY distribution (they own the Rhymesayers label), but also to their aggressive sound and dark, vivid subject matter. Slug’s litany of downtrodden and despicable characters continues, only this time around, he's toned down the rhetoric a bit, trading in some of the anger in favor of introspection — more observer (and participant) than analyst. Musically, the synth-driven beats are more understated as well. The rueful lap-steel guitar on “Painting” perfectly captures the mood of regret, but “Yesterday” (again with acoustic piano) is a soulful, even gentle reminiscence about an old flame, and “Guarantees” has only guitar behind the rhymes. Tunde Adebimpe assists on “Your Glasshouse,” a chilling morning-after lament of spins, chills, dry heaves, and a “phone full of missed calls,” and “The Waitress,” a jazzy, flute-infused reflection, has the distinction of a beatboxing Tom Waits.

You can find 'em in the A's of your iPod
Atmosphere's 6th studio album is easily their best yet. Their last two releases were both solid albums, but this one is above and beyond anything they've done before. Every song on this album feels like it's the grand finale. Not a single song is there just to be there and no track on the album makes me think it would have been better left off. The quality is not only unheard of by the duo, but almost unheard of by all of hip-hop. There has been only one other hip-hop album where I could press play and listen the entire way through (Cunninlynguists- A Piece of Strange). However, this album has risen to that criteria and I can definitively say that it contains Slug's best work lyrically as well as Ant's best work musically. You can tell that they both pushed each other to their limits for this album and it paid off. Every character in every song is intertwined within one another. Listen closely enough and you'll begin to realize that every portrait painted by these individual songs all contribute to one large, united mural. This is not only Atmosphere's best release, but also one of the best hip-hop albums to this day. You owe it to yourself, not to Atmosphere, to buy this album.
this is their best ALBUM
i love atmosphere. their music and lyrics are always great. usually i'm disappointed with their albums, i mean, i'll love a lot of songs on them but as for the album flow and everything its usually flat. this album though is good all the way through. i didn't skip one song. dont just buy singles from this one, if you want to appreciate the songs best get the whole album its their best so far.
Great
Atmosphere is the best rap group out there right now. Another great album
