Album Review

The inside fold out sets the mood for this album, as it's packed with gory photos of the band dressed up as murder victims. But without involving any gimmicks, the Murder City Devils just rock out to a gritty, nostalgic garage punk that looks up to the Dead Boys and Alice Cooper. The organ-synth adds to the haunting appeal of an already bleak, party-like presence that the Devils have had since day one. And with the drunken anthems of "Rum to Whisky" and "I Drink the Wine," the all-around results of In Name and Blood equal a dark-humored rock & roll extravaganza that's perfect for any Addams Family Reunion Special.

JunkiePop

This is My favorite MCD album by far....I used to think cowboys didnt cry until I heard this. Its music that makes ya wanna chew glass and go down to your local Dive bar to dance with the Last Call girls. Some fine Junkie pop stuff for sure....only thing that stinks is you miss out on the great artwork of all the band members murders.

Raw, Untamed, Broken Glass Spattered with blood...this album has it all.

This is one of my most cherished and favorite records of all time. I would never say the Devils were the most talented band in this world, but here they were unstoppable. I mean hells fury out the chamber of a .44 point blank unstoppable. This record might not have saved the world, but in many ways it keeps me sane, and it saved mine (musically speaking). At a time when so much of the world was tuned into total garbage these bar flys were thrashing their way around the states, setting fire to the drums, and inspiring a whole new generation. Rock and roll can make you feel alive. This album is a living, breathing tribute to that. Sit back and inhale pure rock and roll glory. Thank you Spencer, Dann, Derek, Coady, Nate, Leslie, Gabe and Merchbot 2000 (Corey).

wow.

this is a great album...but i don't think it tops Broken Bottles, Empty Hearts. Well.... I guess I can't really say that becuase they're two totally different albums when it comes to sound.... so I'll take that back. It's good on its own accord... I especially like Rum to Whiskey and Fields of Fire. The two tracks that I would give 10 stars to alone.

The Murder City Devils are a Seattle-based punk band who like their music fierce, raw, and powerful, with a garage rock edge in the melodies and a muscular approach that recalls old-school punk favorites the Misfits and the Dead Boys, but with a dark edge that shakes off any accusations of hipster nostalgia-mongering. The Murder City Devils were formed in 1996 by vocalist Spencer Moody, guitarist Dann Gallucci, and bassist Derek Fudesco; all three had previously been members of Area 51, and when...
