WANT: Track-By-Track

First, you have to understand, like iTunes said, that 3OH!3 is very tongue-in-cheek, probably something of a joke to themselves, and seems to almost parodize certain genres of music (with WANT just generally parodizing the hip-hop/rap industry).

Tapp - 5/5 - For being purely instrumental, Tapp is a nice lead-in track. Interesting sound, and not much else to say about it. Definitely not worth $1.30 on its own, if you were planning to buy it single...

Punkb*tch - 5/5 - Good track. I've tried listening to this off of my computer speakers, and it honestly sounds strange. Song'll probably sound best off of earphones. It gets pretty amazing near the end, when all the different hooks and choruses are put together.

Don't Trust Me - 5/5 - Obviously one of the album's "gems", Don't Trust Me was made to top the charts, and it's good at what it does. As a song, though, it's definitely not the most amazing that WANT has to offer.

Chokechain - 3/5 - They should have just put this on their debut album, 3oh!3. While it's a good song, I don't think it's good enough for this album.

I'm Not Your Boyfriend Baby - 5/5 - You gotta let this one grow on you. After you get past the odd-sounding first verse, it's actually a pretty funny/good track.

I Can't Do It Alone - 5/5 - One of WANTS more curse-happy songs, I Can't Do It Alone has a pretty odd message to it. If I had to take a stab at what it's talking about, I'm assuming it would be a hooker or a very rich girl. Even after owning WANT for this long, I still can't really make heads or tails of it - which is probably fine, because it might not have a meaning anyway.

Starstrukk - 5/5 - A wonderfully radio-friendly song with its lower quality sound, Starstrukk is a funny song that somehow manages to be not considered explicit yet have some of the sickest verses on the entire album at the same time.

Richman - 5/5 - One of my favorite tracks. Richman is another very profanity-loving song, and that's the only thing that makes it good. Violent lyrics and a catchy chorus; Richman probably deserves a whole lot more popularity from this album than maybe it gets.

Photofinnish - 3/5 - Definitely not one of WANT's best tracks. It's just talking about them being signed in to Photo Finish records, more or less, and set aside the catchy "You always hedging on a safe bet/walking a tightrope with a safety net" chorus, this song doesn't manage to be anything special.

Still Around - 5/5 - I can't help but love this song in spite of the not-so-positive feedback it's gotten. Still Around may not be a very 3OH!3-esque song, but it's still GOOD nonetheless. Honestly, I think it's pretty great. Sad and a little personal, and a good deal relateable; it's one of those tracks that you'll still be able to listen to after the unth time you've played the album.

Holler Til You Pass Out - 4/5 - While maybe this would have done better as the gem of 3oh!3, it's still a pretty funny, decent gangster rap parody on WANT. Ever tried playing this one outta bass speakers on your car? It's awesome.

Colorado Sunrise - 5/5 - WANT's best song - and sadly one of the least popular. Colorado Sunrise has a brilliant combination of catchy beats, almost emotional lyrics that are reminiscent of Still Around, and a just a wonderfully energetic feel to it. If you had the chance to buy only one track from WANT, this would be the track to get. No matter how many times I listen to it, it never gets old. Great song.

BONUS TRACKS:

Starstrukk Ft. Katy Perry - 4/5 - Katy Perry's a decent singer. 3OH!3 are decent singers. Together? Ehh...nonetheless, this Starstrukk remix is, well, decent. It's nothing amazing, but it is sort of a last-minute addition to WANT, so I'm not really complaining.

Don't Trust Me (Benny Blanco Remix)[Ft. Kid Cudi] - 5/5 - I love this, particularly the "Hey hata, sign language, middle finger, middle finger" verse from Kid Cudi. It's a pleasantly funny combination of real black rap and 3OH!3's wannabe white rap.

Still Around (Big Mix) - 4/5 - It's okay. There's not much changed from the orignal Still Around, and the parts that are (mostly the beat) aren't that remarkable.

A'ight, that's all. I might be a bit of a biased party rating this, as a big fan of 3OH!3's, but I'd say it's worth at least a second glance; there are some tracks on WANT that are definitely worth its price.
