Tomorrow the Green Grass

Tomorrow the Green Grass

Following the 1992 breakthrough Hollywood Town Hall, The Jayhawks filled out their sound with denser alt-country arrangements. They open things with the string-laden “Blue,” which comes complete with a sweeping chorus that details a low mood while hitting the high notes. The wild storm of thrashy roots-rock guitar on “Real Love” transforms into driving solos and sparkling crescendos. They end with the playful “Ten Little Kids,” a raucous sing-along featuring pounding drums, rolling piano, and a triumphant melody that’ll make you wistful for childhood.
